XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 12/23

Greetings from Higgins Lake! The snow yesterday morning was significantly colder than the air, allowing Ginzu Dana to set fresh tracks and snow comb all the trails with great success, resulting in only happy skiers all day. Dana will ginzu-snow comb all the skating lanes again early this morning, dicing up the re-frozen snow into beautiful skating conditions. With temps hitting mid 30s F in the afternoon, the skiing will be faster earlier in the day. We have a 6 to 8 inch packed base, and 13 to 16 inches of snow in the woods — and more snow accumulation in the forecast!
We are also happy to report that the Mason Tract had new tracks set yesterday. We highly recommend this classic-only trail; just north of Roscommon.
Forecast:
Today: Partly cloudy in the morning followed by periods of snow showers later in the day. High 37F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 70%.
Tonight: Snow in the evening will become lighter overnight. Low 29F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 90%. Snow accumulating 1 to 3 inches.
Saturday: Cloudy. High 34F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph.
