XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 12/29

Fast skating on the Manitou trails. The conditions are unbelievably good after the hard work of the trail clearers on Tuesday!

The skiing yesterday was very good after the dusting of snow and a fresh snow combing. We were able to grind up the hard pack enough to make for fast (but not icy), firm conditions for skating and classic. Ginzu Dana will begin snow combing all the trails this morning before dawn. All trails have complete snow coverage and are in very good to great condition.

Forecast:

Today: Occasional snow showers. Temps nearly steady in the low to mid 30s. Winds W at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of snow 50%. Snow accumulations less than one inch.

Tonight: Intermittent snow or snow showers becoming steadier late. Low 22F. Winds WNW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of snow 80%. Snowfall around one inch.

Friday: Mainly cloudy with snow showers around in the morning. High 23F. Winds WNW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of snow 50%.

The Stone Turtle Day Lodge lunch special is the Classic Hammy Sammy! Oven roasted ham, swiss cheese, tomato and mustard, grilled to perfection on rustic sourdough bread. Served with kettle cooked potato chips and a pickle! Or, ski to Trapper’s Cabin and enjoy a roasted Koegel Vienna and hot cocoa with Shania, the cabin girl!

Instructor Jim is available for skating and classic lessons every day this week and weekend. Call 800-832-2663 to schedule a lesson and learn how to have more fun while skiing.

All the best,

-Mariah, Stu, Bob, Lynne, Fran, Erin, Ryan, Matt, Michelle, Brian, George, Lexi, Dana, Gage, Grant, Garrett, Logan, Kerrigan, Heidi, and the crew
