XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 01/11

Bunny Buffet!
We had some very interesting weather Monday night and yesterday including a very dense heavy snowfall of 4 to 5 inches, then rain last evening and then it all froze overnight. The snow pack is now crunchy and ready to be Ginzu groomed by groomer George early this morning. Due to the density of yesterday’s snowfall and the anticipation of the rain, Ginzu Dana simply packed the snow to set it up for today’s grooming effort. We now have a 9 to 11 inch packed base and 14 to 17 inches of snow in the woods. All the high ground trails ( Rolling Hills, Mackinac Cut, Wild Turkey, Trapper’s Cabin and Manitou) will be Ginzu groomed and fresh tracks will be set. Conditions are expected to be very good to excellent for skating and classic skiing!
