XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 01/12
Pure Michigan XC Skiing is waiting for you at Higgins Lake!
Groomer George did a yeoman’s job of grooming all the trails yesterday with spectacular results! Not only did he Ginzu snowcomb the skating lanes to perfection he also set nice deep tracks and picked up all the debris left by Tuesday nights windstorm. This morning Ginzu Dana will re-groom all the trails, and with last night’s inch or so of fresh snow, will have excellent results. We now have a 7 to 10 inch packed base and 8 to 12 inches of snow in the woods. Conditions are excellent for skating and classic skiing on all 8 trails!

Today: Mainly cloudy with snow showers around this morning. High 24F. Winds NW at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of snow 60%. 1 to 3 inches of snow expected.
Tonight: Partly cloudy skies early will give way to cloudy skies late. Low 8F. Winds WNW at 10 to 20 mph.
Friday: Mainly cloudy. High 16F. Winds NNW at 5 to 10 mph.
Friday Night: Cloudy with snow showers developing after midnight. Low 6F. Winds light and variable. Chance of snow 40%.
Saturday: Cloudy skies early, then partly cloudy in the afternoon. High 26F. Winds light and variable.
Saturday night: A few clouds from time to time. Low 11F. Winds light and variable.
Sunday: Sunny with a high of 28F. Winds light and variable.
The Stone Turtle Day Lodge lunch special is Bob’s Favorite Tuna Panini. Albacore tuna, spinach, jalapeños, black olives, swiss cheese with mayo on Stone House sourdough bread grilled to perfection. Serve with kettle cooked chips and a pickle spear. Famous Spicy Chili will also be served with a warm multi grain roll along with an assortment of tasty paninis and Bosco sticks!
