Vasa Trail Cross Country Ski Report – 02/08

11:30 AM – The trail survived the rain pretty well…and it’s fast!

Within 1 or 2 K from the trailhead there are a few icy spots and thin snow areas but it’s skiable for sure. The further out u get, the better. Heck, in the Nip I’d give it an A for real nice, and still fast, corduroy. The lowest grade for any spot today would be a B-. However a lot of the classic tracks further out hadn’t been skied in so were kind of losing their shape.

I did the 15k w the Nip and HW so I can only assume that the rest of the big loop is about the same; some good, some ‘meh’. Please provide a report if u get out there today.

If the Vasa races were held today, everything would be just fine so with the forecast we should be looking good for the weekend too.

We had roving reporter, Scoop McGillicuddy, go out with a ‘shin cam’ on the back side of 6K hill so u can see (and hear) the condition for yourselves.

Enjoy!
