XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 02/09
Yesterday’s grooming efforts transformed the crust into delightfully soft, skiable snow!
We received a dusting of snow last night, which is just enough to cover the last remaining crusty spots leftover from yesterday’s full day grooming effort. Groomer George was very successful in grinding up the crust on the skating lanes, which created very good skating conditions yesterday. Ginzu Dana is snow combing the skating lanes as of this morning. The tracks are still too frozen to reset, but this fresh dusting of snow should improve their condition greatly for classic skiing. We have a 9 to 11 inch base, with 14 to 18 inches of snow in the woods.
Forecast:
Today: Generally cloudy. A few flurries or snow showers possible. High 14F. Winds WNW at 15 to 25 mph.
Tonight: Mostly cloudy. Low 7F. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph.
Tomorrow: Snow during the morning tapering to some freezing drizzle during the afternoon. Some sleet or freezing rain possible. High 29F. Winds S at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of snow 90%. Snow accumulating 1 to 3 inches.
Today’s Stone Turtle Cafe Lunch Special is the Turkey Trot panini! Oven roasted turkey, provolone, spinach, onion, tomato, mayo and mustard, grilled on Stone House 7-grain bread. Served with Great Lakes chips and a pickle.
