The end of the Rolling Hills trail. Thanks to Bob and the front end loader working until dusk, there is a lot of snow out there!

We received another heavy dusting of snow last night, which adds to the progress towards creating a couple skiable trails for this weekend. Snow doctor James, tractor Bob and front end loader Nick and crew spent all day taking loads of snow from the stockpile to the trails, spreading it out, packing it down, and grinding the hardpack with the pre-seeder. At this point we are very happy to report that we have two trails that are fully skiable: a flat loop that includes part of Trappers Cabin and Adventure, and the hillier Michigan Cup Loop, which includes part of Trapper’s Cabin, Adventure, and Rolling Hills.

Conditions are fair for classic (no tracks) and skate skiing, and vary from deep, packed snow, to icy hard pack that has been ground up with some new snow. There are a couple of icy spots, but in general it is totally skiable and some parts are downright nice. As Larry Hebert from Ohio put it after skiing yesterday, “these are ideal conditions for northern Ohio.” We’ll take it!

Today: Cloudy with snow showers mainly during the morning. High around 20F. Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of snow 50%.

Tonight: Cloudy skies with late-night snow showers. Low around 10F. Winds NW at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of snow 40%.

Tomorrow: Cloudy with snow showers mainly during the morning. High 26F. Winds NW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 40%.
