XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 03/13
1st, 2nd and 3rd Place of the Women’s 165+ division. Congratulations to Team Vasa for winning the Michigan Cup, and Team HHCCS for taking back the Brumbaugh Cup!
We had a lot of fun with the Michigan Cup Relays yesterday, and it was great to have so many enthusiastic skiers come out and race our “Hail Mary” course and celebrate at the post-race party! We received a heavy dusting of snow overnight, and are forecast to receive up to 3 additional inches throughout the day today. We currently have fair conditions for classic and skating on two trails: a flat loop that includes part of Trappers Cabin and Adventure, and the hillier Michigan Cup Loop, which includes part of Trapper’s Cabin, Adventure, and Rolling Hills. We are not able to set classic tracks due to the hardpack, nor are we able to snow comb until we receive more snow. 75% of the trail is quite icy, but should improve greatly throughout the day if we continue to get snow.
Forecast:
Today: Snow showers. High around 25F. Winds ENE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 60%. Snow accumulating 1 to 3 inches.
Tonight: Mainly cloudy with snow showers around this evening. Low around 10F. Winds NE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of snow 40%.
Tomorrow: Partly cloudy. High 21F. Winds NNE at 10 to 20 mph. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.
