XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 03/16

Yesterday’s grooming efforts yielded wonderful results!

Overall, the trails conditions, believe it or not, are actually quite good. A number of skiers came in from skiing yesterday with big smiles. The condition of the Michigan Cup Loop is excellent for skating, and even though we cannot set classic tracks, the classic skiing is great too. Groomer Bob will groom the Michigan Cup Loop this morning, which includes Rolling Hills and part of Trapper’s Cabin and has no thin, bare, or icy spots. The rest of the Trapper’s Cabin trail is in decent shape with a couple of thin spots, Tall Pines is marginal, Mackinaw Cut and Wild Turkey and Adventure are fair, and Manitou is 70% good and 30% fair. Overall, conditions are pretty darn good, and you can use your “A” skis on the Michigan Cup Loop with no problem.

Forecast:

Today: Sunshine and a few clouds. High 38F. Winds WNW at 10 to 15 mph.
