XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 03/23

Join us this weekend for Euchre, Bosco sticks, and pizza!

The 2km Michigan Cup Loop incorporating part of the Trapper’s Cabin and Rolling Hills Trails is still very much skiable, and has some stretches that are in great condition for skating and classic despite not having classic tracks. We will not be grooming until we get more snow, due to the spots that are beginning to thin out. All other trails have some skiable stretches but require portaging over bare spots. Once again because of the cool overnight temps and the warmer day time temps today, the trails will be fast this morning after the cold temps last night, but will soften up around mid-day.

Forecast:

Today: Some early morning breaks in the overcast, otherwise cloudy. High 42F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph.

Tonight: Periods of rain and freezing rain. Some icing possible. Low 31F. Winds SSE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precip 80%.

The Stone Turtle Day Lodge Lunch Special is the Mediterranean Tuna Melt! Albacore Tuna, feta cheese, house made hummus, kalamata olives, banana peppers, and tomatoes on Stone House 7-Grain Bread. Served with Great Lakes kettle chips and a pickle!

Bob and Lynne always said that when there was no snow early in the ski season, they would play Euchre by the fireplace and wait for snow to fall. Well, we were lucky enough to have snow early in the season, but with mostly brown out there and very little white left at this point, we’re taking a cue from those very wise founders…
Join us for a Euchre Tournament and Pizza Party to celebrate our Season Trail Sponsors!

Date: Saturday, March 25th
Time: 12:00pm to however long it takes.

Show your 2016-17 Trail Sponsor Badge at XC Ski HQ this Saturday, and enjoy free entry into our very high stakes Euchre tournament, PLUS an order of complimentary gourmet Bosco Sticks: mozzarella-cheese-filled breadsticks, served hot and doctored up with garlic and delicious seasonings, and served with classy dipping sauces like Marinara and Ranch. Also, bring your skis in and enjoy $5 storage wax application per pair (the surefire way to guarantee an April blizzard), $5 gourmet flatbread pizzas, and 2 for $1 famous chocolate chip cookies. Both Euchre Tournament Champions get a free Silver Hot Wax on any one pair of skis, to be used anytime this season or next ($46 value!). BYO Beverages, and either BYO Euchre Partner or show up solo and we will find you one. Non-Trail-Sponsors who still like to have fun can enter the Euchre tournament and enjoy an order of Bosco Sticks for $10. Of course there will be special sales throughout the whole store, too!

See you this weekend for some indoor fun with your fellow outdoor enthusiasts!
