XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 01/11

Due to the high temps today, as well as the likelihood of considerable rain, we feel it is in the best interest of our snow base for us to close the trails for the day. Skiing and demos will still be permitted on the practice area and Blizzard trail, but not on the trails across the street. Temps are supposed to drop quite a bit tonight to well below freezing, so we are optimistic that we will be able to reopen the trails for tomorrow. Stay tuned to the daily ski report, or give us call for more info!

Forecast:

Today: Showers this morning, becoming a steady rain during the afternoon hours. High 49F. Winds SSW at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 90%. Rainfall around a quarter of an inch.

Tonight: Cloudy with occasional rain…mainly this evening. Low 14F. Winds WNW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 80%.

Tomorrow: Mostly cloudy. High 18F. Winds NNW at 10 to 20 mph.

Today’s lunch special is the Wild Turkey Panini! Sliced turkey breast, basil pesto, sun dried tomatoes, spinach, and provolone cheese, grilled on Stone House 7-Grain bread. Served with Great Lakes Chips and a dill pickle spear.

It’s a great day for shopping! Try out a new XC ski outfit from Swix, Bjorn Daehlie, Salomon, and more!

Join us Saturday for too much fun!!

Stretch & Slide: Yoga Ski Retreat!Jan 20, 10:00amCross Country Ski HeadquartersStretch and Slide combines two fabulous activities: yoga and cross country skiing!

Stretch & Slide begins with a yoga class at 10:00am (meets at the Gerrish Township Municipal Building, 1 mile south of XC Ski HQ), and continues with an awesome day on the snow! After yoga, head to XC Ski HQ to get your ski or snowshoe rental and facilities pass, and join in a private group lesson with a PISA certified ski instructor (at approx 11:45am). After the lesson, refuel with a delicious chili lunch (classic or vegetarian) at the Stone Turtle Day Lodge Café at Cross Country Ski Headquarters. Spend the rest of the day enjoying the serenity of the beautiful Michigan winter forests on the pristinely groomed Headquarters ski trails, or relaxing with a mug of hot cocoa by the Stone Turtle Day Lodge fireplace!

All are invited to participate, including novices to yoga, skiing or both. Over a $65 value for $45 ($35 if you have your own equipment). There will be an opportunity to change from yoga clothes into ski clothes before the ski lesson, and XC Ski Headquarters has a great selection of ski clothing if you need to get outfitted before the lesson! To pre-register (recommended but not required), email info@crosscountryski.com or call 800-832-2663.
